Robots Invade our schools
Dungog High has been using Robots as part of a Joint Literacy Program with our Partner Primary Schools. Last year we travelled to Macquarie University in conjunction with Gresford Public to break the Guiness World Record for the most number of Dancing Robots. This year the Robotics program has gone through a huge expansion involving all of our Partner Primary Schools.
Goals for the project include:
Fostering primary/ high school partnerships
Enabling exchange of professional dialogue so that primary and high school can work collaboratively
Assisting the transition of students from primary to high school
Focusing collaboratively on the writing process with a particula
r emphasis on persuasive and procedural texts
Engaging students through Technology and Mentoring
Taking Science and Technology to the Streets on August
Last Year Gresford Public had a fun filled awesome time learning with their High School buddies. They returned to school with procedures written by the High School students. The Primary students then wrote advertisements for the robots designed by their High School buddies. The Program has now been extended to include all of our Partner Primary Schools.
This year, Mr Skimmings and his team of Year 9 and Year 11 Students will be sharing their experience with Robots with our Partner Primary Schools. We will be utilising a huge range of Technologies and Integrating more Literacy into the Program. Robotics Workshops will be running at the High School Throughout all of Term 3. We will also be taking our Robots to the streets on August 16thfor Science week.
